About Her Crown Journal

Who we are and how we work.

Her Crown Journal is a small journal about hair after 40, written for Black women who are tired of promises.

We publish three kinds of pieces: stories, told the way we'd tell them to a friend; comparisons, where we put labels, doses and prices side by side with links to every source; and tips, small practical things you can do this week.

Our stories are dramatizations based on real-life experiences. When we compare products, every number comes from the brand's own label or website, and we date it. When we quote reviews, they come from public review sites.

Her Crown Journal is published by Oren, a hair supplement brand. When Oren appears in a comparison, it's judged on the same criteria as everyone else, and we say so here so you can weigh it.
